Core Mechanics I - The Menu & Dolls

Lineage 2 core mechanisms

Friends! We finished the User Interface part and now we can move to something very important. The core mechanisms in the game. There is a huge journey ahead of us in this chapter, so make a coffee or some cool drink and enjoy all the information I know! You can access this window tapping the “hamburger” menu in the bottom right section or hitting ALT + X keys on your keyboard!

World Trade

4game

4game menu option gives you possibility to claim items from 4game store. For example, if you claim a gift from a 4game store, you can pick the gift up via this menu option.

L-coins store

L-coin Store differs significantly from server to server. As I already mentioned in the server’s chapter (Part 1), almost everything in L-Coin Store on Sienna costs l-coins. L-coins are a special currency that can be obtained from trading with players or directly via 4game store.

For example, if you are new and you start your journey on Sienna, you can buy 3 Kits for newbies. Each (at least to this day) is 10 000 L-coins. So in total, for 30 000 L-coins u can get up and ready for Dragon Valley and beyond, which are 83lvl+ locations.

Community

Honestly? I’ve never used the Community button in my whole Lineage 2 Essence career. We can skip this one.

Spec. craft

I’ve already described how Special Craft works in the Bottom quick Access bar chapter (Part 5). A comparison of how much Sienna, Eva and Samurai server differ, and what you can expect, is coming in an upcoming part of this series!

Dolls

Dolls are super important items in the game and I really want to take time here to really explain how it works, what you should focus on and how to get the dolls.

How Dolls’s bonuses work

How does a doll’s bonus work? This is such a common question from new players and I fully understand that it can be confusing at the beginning. In Lineage 2 essence we have 7 grades of Dolls - Common, Enhanced, Superior, Rare, Heroic, Legendary and Mythic. So for example Lilith Doll can be from Common to Legendary (she does not have Mythic version).

And now - let’s say started a game and a doll’s coupon gave you a common Lilith Doll.

Cool! Your stats were now increased exactly by 500 points on P.attack. We call it a “flat” bonus. It means - this bonus is not scaled by anything. It just give you the points described on the item’s profile card. But what happens if second day luck is on your side and you get enhanced version of Lilith? Can you guess dear reader?

Yes, you guessed that right! The value is not cumulated but overwritten. It means, if you have 5000p.attack and you get the common doll - you will have 5500 p.attack. Next day, if you get an enhanced version that is supposed to give you +1000 p.attack, you will have 6000 p.attack (not 6500). So the difference is - 500p.attack from the lower grade doll.

How to obtain Dolls

The easiest way is to wait for events. Doll coupons are common reward and you will get plenty of dolls very quickly. Also, you can drop coupons too. On Special servers (Eva and Samurai) doll coupons drop from lower level locations unlike Sienna, where doll coupons drop on higher level locations (usually 88lvl+)

But, if you are impatient, you can navigate yourself to the doll window and click “Summon Tab”.

On the Sienna server, you pay 70lcoins for one doll summon or 700lcoins for 11dolls summon. On the Eva server, you cannot directly buy coupons like it is on Sienna, but coupons on Special servers (Eva and Samurai)l are much easier to drop from various locations

How to compound Dolls

Compounding dolls is pretty straightforward - you just need 4 of any dolls of the same grade. In the Compounding tab, you can “auto add” the dolls or you can manually pick any doll (of the same grade) you want. My personal advice is - if you are completely new, certainly invest adena into compounding dolls of any grade. When you advance in the game, I highly recommend compounding only Superior and higher grade of Dolls.

Additional bonuses

Dolls give you really nice bonuses, but they are also part of a Doll’s collection system. As you can see on the image below, certain combinations of dolls and grades gives you nice little bonuses that helps with pushing your stats up to the sky!

3 types of dolls

I personally categorize dolls into 3 types -> general purpose dolls, fighter’s dolls and mage dolls. Although I completely made up these names, their bonuses give exactly what the name suggests.

For fighters, you want to get Anais (Soul shot damage bonus), Queen ant (physical crit damage, and physical attack) and Lilith (flat physical attack).

For mages, you want to get Phiriel (Spirit shot damage bonus), Orfen (magical attack and magical skill critical damage) and Anakim (flat magical attack).

And then there are general purpose dolls that gives you really nice bonuses like skill power, additional crit rate and crit damage and so on. Some dolls are harder to get than others because they are unique. Especially Glakias, Behemoth, Andreas, Ferion, Kelbim or Tempest. Some dolls, however, can be received only through events or instances! For example Mafia leader and Kain.

Conclusion on Doll’s chapter

Dolls are crazy important and usually they are the very first items that will help you entering higher level areas. Without dolls, you will have a hard time farming better locations. Especially after 76 level! Take your time, be patient and try to squeeze any event that offers dolls!
